Spotlight on Herron Farms

Spring is here, and with it comes another season of fresh produce, handmade goods, and community spirit at the Pendleton County Farmers Market! This week, we’re highlighting Herron Farm, a third-generation farm dedicated to growing quality food, sharing knowledge, and passing down the love of farming to future generations.

Fixing Fences & Preparing for the Season

At Herron Farm, spring means getting the land ready, and this year, they’ve been hard at work repairing old fences around their garden. With freshly plowed ground, they’re preparing for another bountiful season, including a pumpkin patch that’s already in the works!

What’s Growing?Herron Farm is already ahead of the game with lettuce and spinach sprouting in their brand-new hydroponic table. Next up on their planting list? Potatoes, followed by peppers and tomatoes, ensuring a delicious lineup of fresh produce for the market.

New This Year: Hydroponic Greens & Handmade Goods

Exciting additions are coming to the market from Herron Farm this season! They’re introducing hydroponic greens and blueberry cuttings sourced straight from their family patch. In addition, the next generation of the Herron family, known as the Herron FarmGirlz, is making their mark—offering beautifully crafted beaded pens, keychains, bracelets, and decorative car fresheners.

Herron Farm’s new hydroponic system is ready for the season! These nutrient-rich channels will help grow fresh, soil-free greens like lettuce and spinach, bringing even more variety to the Pendleton County Farmers Market this year.

Best Sellers & Market Favorites

Last year, Herron Farm’s top sellers were their fresh-picked berries and hearty potatoes. If you were lucky enough to grab some, you know why they flew off the tables! With another strong season ahead, they’re eager to bring these favorites back to the market.

A Farm Rooted in Tradition & Community

More than just a farm, Herron Farm takes pride in serving the community by offering quality products and sharing their knowledge. As a third-generation farm, they’re committed to preserving this way of life and passing it on to the next generation.

The farm began with Charlie Herron and his wife, Dorothy, who have been raising and selling a diverse array of fruits and vegetables at the Pendleton County Farmers Market since the 1980s.
